Vision and Mission
Entrepreneurship predisposes a person to take action. Entrepreneurs constantly search for opportunities to create value and build organizational platforms to deliver that value. With Hong Kong's entrepreneurial ecosystem thriving in the 2020s, the first stage of our inspiring job is complete. Our mission now is to support Hong Kong in building a world-class ecosystem that produces more and more innovative and impactful ventures while renewing its traditional industries and societal values.
Our vision is to advance the understanding of entrepreneurship and inspire entrepreneurship in Hong Kong, China, and other parts of the world. In the near future, CfE will continue to develop and provide innovative training, research, and consulting for NGOs, government entities, and businesses of all kinds.
The Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) was established on May 24, 2005 as a research center under the Asia Pacific Institute of Business. Because entrepreneurship, in both new and existing enterprises, contributes to economic growth and social development, we believe it should be understood and promoted as a vital part of education in the business school and other faculties.
CfE is an interdisciplinary association that unites scholars in research, education, and community service to inspire the spirit of entrepreneurship and nurture entrepreneurial thinking. Professors Kevin Au, Bee-leng Chua, Hugh Thomas, Kwok Siu Tong, and Wong Kam Fai were instrumental in launching CfE. Since then, it has expanded in size, diversity, and activities. Professors Chua and Thomas served as the first and second directors of the Center. "To instill an entrepreneurial mindset and motivate the passion" was the motto in the beginning. We work across multiple disciplines to provide education, conduct research, and organize activities for members of CUHK and society to create cultural, social, and economic value.
