Bio

Prof. Au graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a B.B.A. and earned his Ph.D. in management/ international business at the University of British Columbia. He co-founded the CUHK Center for Entrepreneurship and serves as its current director in 2005 and founded the CUHK Centre for Family Business in 2015, and serves as current director of both Centers. His research interests are international management, entrepreneurship, family business, and social network. He has published academic articles, cases, and book chapters, and written several books such as <中小企業傳承與創新> (in Chinese) and “Family Enterprising in Asia: Exploring transgenerational entrepreneurship in family firms.”

Apart from serving academic community on the editorial boards of several journals, he has provided consultations and trainings for the government and business corporations, including business start-ups and family enterprises in Hong Kong. He also formerly or currently serves as director to HK Business Angel Network, FFI, STEP, etc. As to public services, he serves as a member for the Social Innovation and Enterprise Development Fund, Enterprise Support Scheme, and the Small and Medium Enterprise Committees for the Hong Kong Government.
