Bio

Trained as a social worker in Hong Kong and equipped with skills and experience in both the commercial and philanthropy sector.

May Lau started her marketing career and dived into the cooking hobby of running a private kitchen with an entrepreneurial mind. In these five years acting as a chef, she has published six cookbooks, conducted many cooking workshops and TV shows, and offered consultancy services to famous kitchenware and food companies for product development, such as Nissin Foods, Lee Kum Kee and Whirlpool microwaves.

Joined Lee Kum Kee as a Culinary Artist in the global marketing department in 2006 and demonstrated her expertise in food styling, recipe development, banquet administration, event management, and supporting global sales and marketing. After eight years of service, she was transferred to Lee Kum Kee Family Foundation and started her journey in philanthropy.

May Lau has extensive strategy planning, marketing, project management, and communications experience. She was Head of the Foundation and oversaw the operation and development for over eight years. The critical job duty of the role is to develop a suitable strategy according to the board's direction and turn it into actionable items. Review, foster, and coordinate collaborative projects with partner organizations to promote the foundation's mission and practices partnership and strategic philanthropy with its clients beyond grant-making. She bridges the dots, advocating for practices that help connect like-mind partners both within and without the fund. More importantly, May steers the foundation to illustrate the organization's impact through co-creating research and study with the tertiary institutions and demonstrating and telling the impact story using publication and multi-media. She also works closely with the corporate affairs team of the business units to synergize and tackle various challenges and crisis management.

She is currently a Doctor of Public Administration student and has completed the Master of Social Science (Non-profit Management) at the University of Hong Kong with a distinction qualification and is also a part-time lecturer at Tung Wah College. And will be a Director of Social Impact in a listed Company starting from June 2023.
